Teaching to Serve

How do you teach a little one to serve? The best example I have had is my previous Bishop. Bishop Bastian was the poster child for service, just ask his kids. They are so used to serving and he pushed them to help with love. When they started to murmur he would gently persuade them to change their attitude. Not by using those words but by sharing experiences that would help. Thanks Bishop.

Six months to Baptism

So Isabella is turning 8 in August and is very excited about her baptism and every other thing that goes along with turning 8. We had thought that it would be nice if she read the Book of Mormon before her birthday. She was doing great and was over half way through 1st Nephi and we fell off track. Remember it isn't how many time you fall down but how many times you get back up.

What is our purpose?

First, we must visualize our objective. What is our purpose? The Prophet Joseph Smith counseled: "Happiness is the object and design of our existence: and will be the end thereof, if we pursue the path that leads to it; and this path is virtue, uprightness, faithfulness, holiness, and keeping all the commandments of God." (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith) In this one sentence we are provided not only a well-defined goal, but also the way we might achieve it.

Our potential

It can be discouraging at times to know what it means to be a son of God and yet come up short. The adversary likes to take advantage of these feelings. Satan would rather that you define yourself by your sins instead of your divine potential. DON'T LISTEN TO HIM

Moses 2:27: “I, God, created man in mine own image, in the image of mine Only Begotten created I him; male and female created I them.”

What a wonderful blessing to know this. We are in the image of our Father. This is our divine nature male and female alike.
